5 Pool Party Hacks Worth Stealing This Summer

09 Jun 2026

Hey Friends,

The first summer we had a pool I tried to be the perfect host. I was so busy filling cups and running inside for more napkins that I missed most of the afternoon. That was the last time I hosted a pool party that way.

Here is what I do now and why it works so much better.

The Drink Cooler That Changes Everything

Fill a small inflatable baby pool with ice and canned drinks. It holds more than any cooler you own, it never runs out of room, and cleanup takes thirty seconds. Set it in the shade near the water and people will gather around it and stay there talking for the rest of the afternoon.

I put out a stack of tropical-themed cups right beside it so everything feels cohesive and summer-ready without any extra effort.

Individual Snack Buckets Instead of Shared Bowls

Dollar store sand buckets filled with chips or pretzels, one per family or one per kid. No one is reaching across anyone, no one is spilling a shared bowl into the pool, and the kids think it is the greatest thing they have ever been handed.

Set them out on the food table with your tropical flamingo paper plates and the whole spread looks intentional and fun without any extra decorating.

Build a Pool Noodle Obstacle Course on the Lawn

Push pool noodles into the grass using bamboo BBQ skewers as stakes. Kids kick balls through them, crawl under them, and run around them. It runs itself for hours.

You do not have to organize a single activity. This is the best thing I have ever done for keeping kids occupied at an outdoor party.

The Napkin Problem, Solved

Use a garden flag hanger as a paper towel holder. It keeps everything from blowing away in the wind, it looks intentional, and you can put one at every table for next to nothing.

I pair them with the Aloha Flamingo Beverage Napkins from Factory Direct Party. They add a pop of color to every table and guests always comment on them.

Set Up a Self-Serve Drink Station and Do Not Touch It Again

Label a big drink dispenser with whatever you are serving. Put cups right there. Fill a cooler with ice and drinks nearby. Walk away.

People help themselves, they linger, they talk to each other, and you get to actually be at your own party instead of running it from behind the scenes.

I grab the Tropical Pineapple Napkins to stack right at the station. It is a tiny detail that makes the whole setup feel like you thought it through.

Enjoy Your Own Party

A pool party done right is one of the easiest afternoons you can host. The setup does the work so you do not have to.
